How to use the Calorie Calculator

This calorie calculator helps you estimate the number of calories you need per day based on your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) and your activity level. Follow these steps to use the calculator:

  1. Select your gender.
  2. Enter your age in years.
  3. Enter your weight in kilograms.
  4. Enter your height in centimeters.
  5. Select your activity level from the dropdown menu.
  6. Click the “Calculate” button to get the results.

How It Calculates the Results

The calculator uses the Harris-Benedict formula to estimate your BMR. The formula varies based on gender:

  • For men: BMR = 10 * weight (kg) + 6.25 * height (cm) – 5 * age (years) + 5
  • For women: BMR = 10 * weight (kg) + 6.25 * height (cm) – 5 * age (years) – 161

After calculating your BMR, the result is adjusted according to your activity level:

  • Sedentary (little or no exercise): BMR * 1.2
  • Lightly active (light exercise/sports 1-3 days/week): BMR * 1.375
  • Moderately active (moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/week): BMR * 1.55
  • Very active (hard exercise/sports 6-7 days a week): BMR * 1.725
  • Extra active (very hard exercise/sports & physical job): BMR * 1.9
