This tool will help you calculate your daily calorie needs based on your physical activity and personal details.
How to Use the Calorie Calculator
Please enter your age, weight in kilograms, and height in centimeters. Select your gender, activity level, and your goal (maintain, lose, or gain weight). Press the “Calculate” button to see your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), maintenance calories, and the calorie intake required to meet your goal.
How the Calculator Works
The calculator uses the Mifflin-St Jeor Equation to estimate your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR). BMR is the number of calories your body needs at rest to maintain basic bodily functions. It then adjusts the BMR based on your activity level to estimate the calories needed to maintain your current weight.
If your goal is to lose weight, the calculator subtracts 500 calories from your maintenance calories. If your goal is to gain weight, it adds 500 calories to your maintenance calories. The 500 calorie adjustment is based on the general guideline that a 500-calorie deficit or surplus per day will result in approximately 0.5 kg weight loss or gain per week.
Limitations
This calculator provides estimated values which might not be accurate for everyone. Factors such as body composition, hormone levels, and metabolic adaptations are not accounted for in the calculations. It is ideal to use these estimates as a starting point and adjust your calorie intake based on actual results and feedback from your body.
