This tool will help you easily convert between different ton units.
Ton Calculator
This calculator converts a given weight from kilograms or pounds to metric tons, short tons (U.S.), or long tons (U.K.).
How to Use
- Enter the weight in kilograms or pounds in the “Value” input field.
- Select the appropriate conversion factor:
- Kilograms to Metric Tons: Use when your weight is in kilograms and you want the result in metric tons (1 metric ton = 1000 kg).
- Pounds to Short Tons: Use when your weight is in pounds and you want the result in short tons (U.S.) (1 short ton = 2000 pounds).
- Pounds to Long Tons: Use when your weight is in pounds and you want the result in long tons (U.K.) (1 long ton = 2240 pounds).
- Click the “Calculate” button to see the result in the “Result” field.
Explanation
The calculator uses a simple division to find the converted value. It divides the input weight by the chosen conversion factor, which converts the weight to the desired type of ton (metric, short, or long).
Limitations
- The input value must be a number; non-numeric values will result in errors or incorrect results.
- The accuracy of the conversion is up to four decimal places; rounding errors may occur for very large or very small values.
- The calculator currently does not account for weights in units other than kilograms or pounds.
