Heat Pump Cost Calculator: Estimate Your Savings Quickly

This tool will help you estimate the cost of installing and operating a heat pump for your home.

Heat Pump Cost Calculator

This calculator helps you estimate the cost of running a heat pump based on various parameters.

How to Use It:

  1. Enter the cost per kWh (in $) that you are charged by your utility company.
  2. Enter the area (in square feet) that you want to heat.
  3. Enter the insulation quality of your space (BTU per square foot).
  4. Enter the desired temperature increase (in °F) that you want to achieve.
  5. Enter the coefficient of performance (COP) of your heat pump. Usually, it ranges between 2 to 5.
  6. Click the “Calculate” button to see the estimated cost.

How It Calculates:

The calculator multiplies the heating area by the insulation quality and the desired temperature increase to get the total BTU needed. It then converts the BTU to kWh (using the COP and a conversion factor of 3412 BTU per kWh). Finally, it multiplies the kWh needed by the cost per kWh to give you the estimated cost.

Limitations:

This calculator provides an estimate based on the inputs you provide. Actual costs may vary depending on additional factors such as heat pump efficiency, external temperatures, and insulation effectiveness. Always consult with a professional for a precise assessment.
