The formula used for BMR calculation is different for males and females, as follows:
- For males: BMR = 10 * weight (kg) + 6.25 * height (cm) – 5 * age (years) + 5

Once the BMR is calculated, it is multiplied by an activity factor that corresponds to your selected activity level:
- Sedentary (little or no exercise): BMR * 1.2
- Lightly active (light exercise/sports 1-3 days/week): BMR * 1.375
- Moderately active (moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/week): BMR * 1.55
- Very active (hard exercise/sports 6-7 days a week): BMR * 1.725
- Super active (very hard exercise/sports and a physical job): BMR * 1.9
