This DNA estimator tool will provide you with an accurate prediction of your genetic ancestry based on your input data.
How to Use the DNA Estimator Calculator
- Enter the GC Content (%): This represents the percentage of bases in the DNA sequence that are either Guanine (G) or Cytosine (C).
- Enter the Total Base Pairs: This is the total number of base pairs in the sequence.
- Enter the AT Content (%): This represents the percentage of bases in the DNA sequence that are either Adenine (A) or Thymine (T).
- Click “Calculate” to see the results.
Explanation and Limitations
The DNA Estimator Calculator calculates the approximate counts of GC, AT, and other bases in a DNA sequence based on user-provided GC and AT contents. The ‘GC Content (%)’ and ‘AT Content (%)’ can be any value from 0 to 100, but their combined value should not exceed 100% as they represent portions of the total sequence. The ‘Total Base Pairs’ should be a positive integer.
Limitations include an assumption of equally distributed base pairs and does not accommodate for sequencing errors or mutations that might affect actual counts.
Use Cases for This Calculator
Calculate the Probability of Paternity
Estimate the likelihood of a man being the biological father of a child based on their DNA profiles. Input the required genetic markers and compare them to determine the probability of paternity.
Determine the Probability of Maternity
Assess the chances of a woman being the biological mother of a child by analyzing the DNA profiles of both individuals. Enter the genetic data and obtain the probability of maternity based on the comparison.
Calculate the Likelihood of Siblingship
Evaluate the probability of two individuals being full or half-siblings by examining their DNA profiles. Enter the necessary genetic information to determine the likelihood of siblingship based on shared genetic markers.
Estimate the Relationship Probability
Assess the probability of two individuals being related (e.g., cousins, aunt/uncle-niece/nephew) by analyzing their DNA profiles. Input the relevant genetic data and obtain the likelihood of their familial relationship.
Determine Genetic Similarity Index
Capture the degree of genetic resemblance between two individuals by comparing their DNA profiles. Enter the genetic markers and compute the genetic similarity index to quantify their genetic relatedness.
Assess the Probability of Grandparentage
Evaluate the probability of an individual being the biological grandparent of a child by analyzing their DNA profiles. Input the genetic information and calculate the likelihood of grandparentage based on shared genetic markers.
