This tool will help you estimate the distance-to-site (DTS) based on your input parameters accurately.
How to Use the DTS Estimator
To use the DTS (Drive Time and Stops) Estimator, follow these steps:
- Enter the total distance of your journey in kilometers.
- Enter your average driving speed in kilometers per hour.
- Select the traffic condition from the dropdown menu (1 for smooth traffic, 10 for heavy traffic).
- Enter the number of stops you plan to make during your journey.
- Enter the average time spent at each stop in minutes.
- Click the “Calculate” button to get the estimated drive time including stops and traffic adjustments.
How the Calculation Works
The estimation is done using the following factors:
- Total distance (D)
- Speed (S)
- Traffic condition (T), which adjusts the time based on a factor from 1 to 1.9
- Number of stops (N), and average stop time (M)
The basic travel time is calculated as D / S. We add the total stop time (N * M / 60) to this time. This sum is then adjusted by the traffic factor (1 + (T – 1) * 0.1) to give the final estimated travel time.
Limitations
This calculator provides an estimated time based on average values and current conditions you input. Real-world conditions may vary due to unforeseen events such as road closures, severe weather, or other delays. Always use your own judgment and experience when planning your journey.
