Drywall Calculator Square Feet – Accurate Measurements

This tool calculates the total square footage of drywall you need for your project.

How to Use the Drywall Calculator

To use this drywall calculator, enter the length, width, and height of the room in feet. Additionally, provide the number of openings (such as doors and windows) and the average area of each opening in square feet. You can also specify the size of one drywall panel in square feet, the default is set to 32 sq ft. Once all fields are filled, click the “Calculate” button to get the result.

How It Calculates the Results

The calculator determines the total surface area of the walls by multiplying the room perimeter by the height. It then subtracts the area of any openings and divides by the size of one drywall panel to determine the number of panels needed.

Limitations

This calculator assumes that all walls are perfectly flat and does not account for irregular shapes or additional materials such as screws, joint compound, or tape. It also assumes that drywall sheets can be cut and used without any waste.

Use Cases for This Calculator

Calculate Total Square Feet of a Single Wall

Enter the height and width of a single wall, click on the calculate button, and instantly get the total square feet needed for that wall. This feature saves you time and effort in manual calculations.

Determine Total Square Footage for an Entire Room

Input the dimensions of each wall in a room one by one, then click calculate to find the total square footage required to drywall the entire room. You can quickly estimate the amount of material needed.

Calculate Square Feet for Multiple Rooms

Add up the individual square footage values of various rooms by inputting the measurements of each room separately. The tool will provide you with the total square footage required to drywall all the rooms combined.

Include Ceiling Square Footage in Calculation

Specify whether you want to include the ceiling in your calculation by selecting the option before entering wall dimensions. The calculator will then consider both walls and ceiling square footage for accurate results.

Estimate Drywall Quantity for a Custom-Shaped Room

If you have a room with irregular shapes or sections, input the dimensions of each part separately to calculate the total square footage accurately. This feature helps you account for all areas that need drywalling.

Adjust Measurements Easily

If you need to modify the measurements, simply change the values and click on calculate again to get updated results. This flexibility allows you to quickly compare different scenarios without starting over.

Account for Doors and Windows in Square Footage

Enter the dimensions of doors and windows present in the room to subtract their square footage from the total. The calculator will automatically adjust the final square footage needed, saving you from excess material purchase.

Calculate Drywall Mud and Tape Amount

After determining the square footage for walls and ceiling, include the number of coats for mud and tape application. This extra feature helps estimate the amount of finishing materials required based on square footage.

Handle Metric and Imperial Units Seamlessly

Switch between metric and imperial units effortlessly by selecting the desired unit type before entering the measurements. The calculator will provide accurate results no matter which measurement system you prefer.

Instantly Get Results for Quick Decision Making
