How to Use the JRD Calorie Calculator
To use this calculator, simply fill in your gender, age, height, weight, and activity level. After entering your information, click the “Calculate” button to see your daily calorie requirement.
How the JRD Calorie Calculator Works
This calculator uses the Mifflin-St Jeor Equation to estimate your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), which is the number of calories your body needs at rest. Your activity level is then used to estimate your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE), which is the total number of calories you need to maintain your current weight.
BMR Calculation:
- For men: BMR = 10 * weight (kg) + 6.25 * height (cm) – 5 * age (years) + 5
- For women: BMR = 10 * weight (kg) + 6.25 * height (cm) – 5 * age (years) – 161
TDEE Calculation:
The BMR is multiplied by an activity factor to estimate your TDEE:
- Sedentary: BMR * 1.2
- Lightly active: BMR * 1.375
- Moderately active: BMR * 1.55
- Active: BMR * 1.725
- Very active: BMR * 1.9
Limitations
This calculator provides an estimate of your daily calorie needs. Individual calorie requirements can vary based on factors not accounted for by this calculator, such as muscle mass, overall health, and metabolic rate. For a more personalized assessment, consider consulting with a healthcare provider or a nutritionist.
