How the Calculator Works

The calculator uses the Mifflin-St Jeor Equation to estimate your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), which is then adjusted based on your activity level to estimate your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE). Here are the steps:

  1. The BMR is calculated using the following formulas:
    • For men: BMR = 10 * weight (kg) + 6.25 * height (cm) - 5 * age (years) + 5
    • For women: BMR = 10 * weight (kg) + 6.25 * height (cm) - 5 * age (years) - 161
  2. Your TDEE is then calculated by multiplying your BMR by an activity factor:
    • Sedentary: 1.2
    • Light: 1.375
    • Moderate: 1.55
    • Active: 1.725
    • Very Active: 1.9
