Our easy-to-use calorie calculator helps you determine your daily caloric needs based on your activity level and personal details.
How to Use the Calculator
To calculate your Estimated Daily Energy Expenditure (EDE), fill in all the required fields in the form above: Age, Gender, Weight, Height, and Activity Level. After you’ve filled in all the information, click the “Calculate” button. Your result will be displayed in the “Result” field.
Explanation of the Calculation
This calculator uses the Harris-Benedict Equation revised by Roza and Shizgal to estimate Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) and then multiplies it by the activity level to give the Estimated Daily Energy Expenditure (EDE).
The equations are as follows:
- For men: BMR = 88.362 + (13.397 * weight in kg) + (4.799 * height in cm) – (5.677 * age in years)
- For women: BMR = 447.593 + (9.247 * weight in kg) + (3.098 * height in cm) – (4.330 * age in years)
EDE = BMR * Activity Level
Limitations
Please note that this calculator provides an estimate and is not accurate for everyone. Factors such as muscle mass, body composition, and specific health conditions are not accounted for in this calculation.
