How to Use the GSN Calorie Calculator:
To use the calculator, simply input your age, gender, weight, height, and select your activity level from the dropdown. Then click the “Calculate” button to get your daily caloric needs.
How It Calculates the Results:
The GSN Calorie Calculator uses the Harris-Benedict Equation to estimate your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) and then adjusts it based on your activity level to calculate your daily caloric needs.
- For males: BMR = 88.362 + (13.397 x weight in kg) + (4.799 x height in cm) – (5.677 x age in years)
- For females: BMR = 447.593 + (9.247 x weight in kg) + (3.098 x height in cm) – (4.330 x age in years)
The final result is obtained by multiplying the BMR by the activity level factor.
Limitations:
Please note that this calculator provides an estimate. Actual caloric needs can vary based on a variety of factors including health status, metabolic rate, and muscle mass. For personalized advice, please consult a healthcare professional or a registered dietitian.
