How It Calculates
The calculator uses the Mifflin-St Jeor Equation to estimate your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), which is the number of calories your body needs at rest. It then multiplies this number by an activity factor that corresponds to your activity level to give you a total daily calorie requirement:
- BMR for Men: 10 * weight (kg) + 6.25 * height (cm) – 5 * age (years) + 5
- BMR for Women: 10 * weight (kg) + 6.25 * height (cm) – 5 * age (years) – 161
- Activity Factors:
- Sedentary (little or no exercise): 1.2
- Lightly active (light exercise/sports 1-3 days/week): 1.375
- Moderately active (moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/week): 1.55
- Very active (hard exercise/sports 6-7 days a week): 1.725
- Super active (very hard exercise/physical job): 1.9
Limitations
This calculator provides an estimate based on standard equations and activity factors. It does not account for individual variations such as muscle mass, metabolism, and other health conditions. For a more personalized assessment, consult a healthcare professional.
