This tool will help you calculate how many calories you need each day based on your activity level and personal details.
How to Use the MCS Calorie Calculator
This calculator helps you estimate the number of calories you need to maintain your current weight based on your age, gender, weight, height, and activity level. Here’s how to use the calculator:
- Enter your age in the designated field.
- Select your gender from the dropdown menu.
- Input your weight in kilograms in the weight field.
- Enter your height in centimeters in the height field.
- Choose your activity level from the dropdown menu. Make sure to pick the option that best describes your daily activities.
- Click the Calculate button to see your estimated daily calorie needs.
How It Calculates the Results
The calculator uses the Mifflin-St Jeor Equation to estimate your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), which is the number of calories your body needs to function at rest. The formula for BMR depends on your gender:
- For men: BMR = 10 * weight (kg) + 6.25 * height (cm) – 5 * age (years) + 5
- For women: BMR = 10 * weight (kg) + 6.25 * height (cm) – 5 * age (years) – 161
The estimated BMR is then multiplied by an activity factor that corresponds to your activity level to determine your daily calorie needs:
- Sedentary: BMR * 1.2
- Lightly Active: BMR * 1.375
- Moderately Active: BMR * 1.55
- Very Active: BMR * 1.725
- Super Active: BMR * 1.9
Limitations
This calculator provides an estimate based on general equations and does not account for individual variations such as muscle mass, metabolic health, and other factors. For personalized advice, please consult a healthcare provider or a dietitian.
