This tool will help you calculate the calories you need to consume daily based on your TMJ (Total Metabolic Rate).
How to Use the TMJ Calorie Calculator
Fill in your age, gender, weight, height, and select your activity level from the dropdown. Once you have provided all the information, click the “Calculate” button to see your Total Metabolic Energy (TMJ) caloric needs.
How the Calculation Works
The calculator uses the Mifflin-St Jeor formula to estimate your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), which is the number of calories your body needs at rest. This is then multiplied by an activity factor to give you your TMJ caloric needs, representing the total calories you should consume daily to maintain your current weight.
The BMR is calculated as follows:
For men: BMR = 88.362 + (13.397 * weight in kg) + (4.799 * height in cm) – (5.677 * age in years)
For women: BMR = 447.593 + (9.247 * weight in kg) + (3.098 * height in cm) – (4.330 * age in years)
The total caloric needs (TMJ) is then: TMJ = BMR * activity level
Limitations
This calculator provides an estimate that may not be accurate for everyone, particularly those with high muscle mass, those who are very obese, or those with very high or low activity levels. Always consult with a healthcare provider for more personalized advice.
