How the Calculator Works
The calculator uses the Mifflin-St Jeor Equation to estimate your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), which is the number of calories your body needs at rest. Based on your activity level, the calculator then multiplies your BMR by your chosen activity factor to give an estimate of the total number of calories you need per day to maintain your current weight.
- For men: BMR = 10 * weight (kg) + 6.25 * height (cm) – 5 * age (y) + 5
- For women: BMR = 10 * weight (kg) + 6.25 * height (cm) – 5 * age (y) – 161
Limitations
While this calculator provides an estimate of your daily calorie needs, it’s important to note that individual calorie requirements can vary. Factors such as genetics, muscle mass, and other health conditions can influence your actual calorie needs. Always consult with a healthcare provider or nutritionist for personalized advice.
