How to Use the Calorie Calculator

  • Enter your age in the provided input field.
  • Select your gender from the dropdown menu.
  • Enter your height in centimeters.
  • Enter your weight in kilograms.
  • Select your activity level that best describes your daily routine.
  • Click the “Calculate” button to see your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) and total daily calorie needs.

How It Works

The calculator uses the Mifflin-St Jeor Equation to estimate Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR). The BMR is calculated as follows:

For Men: BMR = 88.362 + (13.397 x weight in kg) + (4.799 x height in cm) – (5.677 x age in years)

For Women: BMR = 447.593 + (9.247 x weight in kg) + (3.098 x height in cm) – (4.330 x age in years)

This rate is then multiplied by an activity factor that corresponds to your selected activity level:

  • Sedentary: BMR x 1.2
  • Lightly active: BMR x 1.375
  • Moderately active: BMR x 1.55
  • Very active: BMR x 1.725
  • Extra active: BMR x 1.9

Limitations

This calculator provides an estimate based on general equations and does not account for every individual difference. Actual calorie needs may vary based on additional factors such as metabolism, muscle mass, and overall health. For a personalized evaluation, consult with a healthcare or nutrition professional.
