This tool helps you easily calculate the calories for your personalized meal plan.
How to use the Calorie Calculator
Fill out the form with the following information:
- Age: Your age in years.
- Gender: Select your gender.
- Weight: Your current weight in kilograms.
- Height: Your height in centimeters.
- Activity Level: Choose the option that best describes your activity level.
- Goal: Select whether you want to maintain, lose, or gain weight.
Once all the fields are filled, click the “Calculate” button to see your daily calorie needs based on the provided information.
How it calculates the results
The calculator uses the Mifflin-St Jeor Equation to estimate your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), which is the number of calories your body needs at rest. It then multiplies your BMR by an activity factor, which accounts for your daily physical activity.
- BMR for males: (10 x weight) + (6.25 x height) – (5 x age) + 5
- BMR for females: (10 x weight) + (6.25 x height) – (5 x age) – 161
Depending on your activity level, the calculator adjusts the calorie needs:
- Sedentary: BMR x 1.2
- Lightly active: BMR x 1.375
- Moderately active: BMR x 1.55
- Very active: BMR x 1.725
- Super active: BMR x 1.9
If your goal is to lose weight, the calculator deducts 500 calories/day to create a calorie deficit. If your goal is to gain weight, it adds 500 calories/day to create a calorie surplus.
Limitations
The calculator provides an estimate of your daily calorie needs but may not be 100% accurate for everyone. Factors such as muscle mass, hormones, and other individual differences can affect actual calorie needs. For personalized advice, consider consulting a healthcare professional or a registered dietitian.
