How to Use the Calorie Counter Journal

To use the calorie counter journal, fill in the required fields with the following information:

  • Gender: Select your gender.
  • Age: Enter your age in years.
  • Height: Enter your height in centimeters.
  • Weight: Enter your weight in kilograms.
  • Activity Level: Select your daily activity level from sedentary to very active.

After filling out the form, click the “Calculate” button. The calculator will compute and display the following results:

  • Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR): The number of calories your body needs to maintain basic physiological functions at rest.
  • Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE): The total number of calories you need per day, accounting for your activity level.

How It Calculates the Results

The Calorie Counter Journal calculates results based on the Harris-Benedict Equation, adjusted for activity level:

  • BMR for Men: BMR = 88.362 + (13.397 x weight in kg) + (4.799 x height in cm) – (5.677 x age in years)
  • BMR for Women: BMR = 447.593 + (9.247 x weight in kg) + (3.098 x height in cm) – (4.330 x age in years)

The TDEE is then calculated by multiplying the BMR by the activity multiplier:

  • Sedentary: BMR x 1.2
  • Lightly Active: BMR x 1.375
  • Moderately Active: BMR x 1.55
  • Very Active: BMR x 1.725

Limitations

This calculator provides an estimate of daily calorie needs based on general formulas. Individual variations, such as unique metabolic conditions and specific health factors, are not accounted for. Always consult a healthcare provider or nutritionist for personalized advice.
