How to Use the Calorie Calculator

This calorie calculator uses your age, gender, weight, height, and activity level to determine your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) and your daily maintenance calories.

Here’s how to use it:

  • Enter your age in the “Age” field.
  • Select your gender from the “Gender” dropdown.
  • Enter your weight in kilograms in the “Weight” field.
  • Enter your height in centimeters in the “Height” field.
  • Select your activity level from the “Activity Level” dropdown.
  • Click the “Calculate” button to see your results.

How It Calculates Results

The calculator uses the Mifflin-St Jeor Equation to estimate your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR). The equation is:

  • For males: BMR = 88.362 + (13.397 x weight in kg) + (4.799 x height in cm) – (5.677 x age in years)
  • For females: BMR = 447.593 + (9.247 x weight in kg) + (3.098 x height in cm) – (4.330 x age in years)

The result is then multiplied by the activity factor to determine your daily maintenance calories, which is the amount of calories you need to maintain your current weight.

Limitations

Please note that this calculator provides an estimate and individual caloric needs may vary. Factors such as muscle mass, medical conditions, and overall health can affect your actual caloric requirements. Consult with a healthcare provider for a more personalized assessment.
