This tool will help you calculate the number of calories you need each day based on your personal information and activity level.
How to Use the Calorie Calculator
This calorie calculator estimates your daily caloric needs based on several parameters, including your weight, height, age, gender, and activity level.
Steps to Use:
- Enter your weight in kilograms in the Weight field.
- Enter your height in centimeters in the Height field.
- Provide your age in years in the Age field.
- Select your gender from the Gender dropdown menu.
- Choose your level of physical activity from the Activity Level dropdown.
- Click the “Calculate” button to view your estimated Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) and daily caloric needs.
How It Calculates:
The calculator uses the Mifflin-St Jeor equation to estimate your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), which is the number of calories your body needs at rest. It then multiplies the BMR by an activity factor to estimate your daily caloric needs.
Formula for BMR:
- Men: BMR = 10 × weight (kg) + 6.25 × height (cm) – 5 × age (years) + 5
- Women: BMR = 10 × weight (kg) + 6.25 × height (cm) – 5 × age (years) – 161
Activity Levels:
- Sedentary (little or no exercise): Multiply BMR by 1.2
- Lightly active (light exercise/sports 1-3 days/week): Multiply BMR by 1.375
- Moderately active (moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/week): Multiply BMR by 1.55
- Very active (hard exercise/sports 6-7 days a week): Multiply BMR by 1.725
- Super active (very hard exercise/sports & a physical job): Multiply BMR by 1.9
Limitations:
While this calculator gives a good estimate of your daily caloric needs, it’s important to remember that individual requirements can vary. Factors such as muscle mass, medical conditions, and overall health can influence your actual caloric needs.
