How to Use the Calorie Calculator

1. Enter your age in the Age field.

2. Select your gender from the Gender dropdown.

3. Enter your weight in kilograms in the Weight field.

5. Select your activity level from the Activity Level dropdown. The options range from sedentary to super active.

6. Select your goal from the Goal dropdown. You can choose to maintain weight, lose weight, or gain weight.

How It Works

This calculator uses the Mifflin-St Jeor Equation to estimate your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), which is the number of calories your body needs at rest. It then multiplies your BMR by an activity factor to estimate your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE), which is the number of calories you need to maintain your current weight.

Depending on your goal, the calculator adjusts your TDEE to provide estimates for maintaining, losing, or gaining weight safely. The adjustments are as follows:

  • Maintain weight: TDEE stays the same.
  • Lose weight: Subtracts 500 calories from TDEE.
  • Gain weight: Adds 500 calories to TDEE.
