How It Calculates the Results:

The calculator uses the Mifflin-St Jeor Equation to estimate your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) and then multiplies your BMR by an activity_multiplier to determine your daily caloric need:

  • BMR (Male) = 88.362 + (13.397 * weight) + (4.799 * height) – (5.677 * age)
  • BMR (Female) = 447.593 + (9.247 * weight) + (3.098 * height) – (4.330 * age)
  • Activity multipliers: Sedentary (1.2), Light (1.375), Moderate (1.55), Active (1.725), Very Active (1.9)

The calculated BMR represents the number of calories your body needs to perform basic functions while at rest. The daily caloric need is then determined by multiplying the BMR by the activity multiplier based on your physical activity level.
