How it calculates the results

The AADF Calorie Calculator uses the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, which is considered one of the most accurate formulas for calculating BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate). The steps are as follows:

  • For males: BMR = 10 * weight + 6.25 * height - 5 * age + 5
  • For females: BMR = 10 * weight + 6.25 * height - 5 * age - 161

Your BMR is then multiplied by an activity factor to estimate your total daily energy expenditure:

  • Sedentary (little or no exercise): 1.2
  • Lightly active (light exercise/sports 1-3 days/week): 1.375
  • Moderately active (moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/week): 1.55
  • Very active (hard exercise/sports 6-7 days a week): 1.725
  • Super active (very hard exercise/physical job): 1.9

Limitations of the Calculator

This calculator provides an estimate based on standard formulas and may not be accurate for everyone. Factors such as muscle mass, body composition, and specific health conditions are not taken into account. For personalized advice, consider consulting a healthcare or nutrition professional.
