ADA Ramp Slope Calculator – Accurate & Easy to Use

This tool helps you calculate the correct slope for ADA-compliant wheelchair ramps.

ADA Ramp Slope Calculator

This calculator helps you determine the slope and length of a ramp based on given dimensions. By providing the rise, run, and total length of the ramp, you can check if the ramp meets the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) requirements.

How to Use

  1. Enter the rise of the ramp in inches.
  2. Enter the run of the ramp in inches.
  3. Enter the total length of the ramp in feet.
  4. Click on the ‘Calculate’ button.
  5. View the result which will include the slope percentage, if it meets ADA requirements, and the required ramp length in feet.

How the Calculator Works

The calculator uses the rise and run to determine the slope percentage of the ramp. According to ADA guidelines, the slope should not exceed 8.33% (which is a ratio of 1:12).

The required ramp length is calculated by using the total length provided by the user and adjusting it based on the rise and run provided.

Limitations

  • The calculator assumes straight run and rise without any landings or intermediate platforms.
  • It does not account for local building codes that may have more stringent requirements.
  • Measurements are assumed to be accurate; measurement errors can affect the results significantly.
