Calorie Calculator & BMI

How to Use

To use the calorie calculator and BMI calculator, please fill in your weight in kilograms, height in centimeters, age, and select your gender and activity level. Once you have provided all the necessary information, click the “Calculate” button to see your results.

How It Calculates

The calculator uses the Mifflin-St Jeor Equation to estimate your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), which is the number of calories your body needs at rest to maintain basic bodily functions. The equation is as follows:

For men: BMR = 10 * weight (kg) + 6.25 * height (cm) – 5 * age (years) + 5
For women: BMR = 10 * weight (kg) + 6.25 * height (cm) – 5 * age (years) – 161

The calculator then multiplies the BMR by an activity factor based on your activity level to estimate your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE):

  • Sedentary: BMR * 1.2
  • Lightly active: BMR * 1.375
  • Moderately active: BMR * 1.55
  • Very active: BMR * 1.725
  • Extra active: BMR * 1.9

It also calculates your Body Mass Index (BMI) using the following formula:

BMI = weight (kg) / (height (m) * height (m))
To convert height from cm to m, divide the value in centimeters by 100.

Limitations

Please note that this calculator provides an estimate based on general formulas, and individual calorie needs may vary. Factors such as muscle mass, health conditions, and metabolism are not taken into account. Always consult a healthcare provider for personalized advice.
