How to Use the Calorie Calculator

To use the calorie calculator, follow these steps:

  • Enter your weight in kilograms.
  • Enter your height in centimeters.
  • Enter your age in years.
  • Select your gender.
  • Select your activity level from the dropdown menu.
  • Click the “Calculate” button to see your results.

How it Calculates

The calorie calculator uses the Mifflin-St Jeor Equation to estimate your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR). The BMR is an estimate of the number of calories you would burn if you were at rest all day.

The equation is as follows:

For men:
BMR = 10 × Weight (kg) + 6.25 × Height (cm) – 5 × Age (years) + 5

For women:
BMR = 10 × Weight (kg) + 6.25 × Height (cm) – 5 × Age (years) – 161

Your daily caloric needs are then calculated by multiplying your BMR by an activity factor that represents your activity level, as chosen from the dropdown menu.

Limitations

This calculator provides an estimate based on average values and may not be accurate for all individuals. Factors such as muscle mass, body composition, and individual metabolic rates are not considered in this calculation. For personalized advice, it is best to consult with a healthcare provider or a nutritionist.
