This tool helps you calculate the daily calorie needs for tweens based on their age, gender, and activity level.
How the Calorie Calculator Works
This calculator estimates the daily calorie requirements for tweens (ages 7-12) by using their age, gender, height, weight, and activity level.
Parameters Used
- Age: Input is required in years. Valid range is 7-12 years.
- Gender: Dropdown selection between Male and Female.
- Height: Input is required in centimeters. Valid range is 100-180 cm.
- Weight: Input is required in kilograms. Valid range is 20-80 kg.
- Activity Level: Dropdown selection between different activity levels from Sedentary to Very Active.
Calculation Method
The calculator uses the Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) formula which is different for males and females. The BMR is then multiplied by an activity factor to estimate total daily calorie needs:
- Sedentary (little or no exercise): BMR × 1.2
- Lightly active (light exercise/sports 1-3 days/week): BMR × 1.375
- Moderately active (moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/week): BMR × 1.55
- Active (hard exercise/sports 6-7 days a week): BMR × 1.725
- Very active (very hard exercise/sports & physical job): BMR × 1.9
Limitations
While this calculator provides a good estimate, individual calorie needs can vary based on factors such as metabolic health, specific physical activities, and overall health conditions.
