This tool calculates the calories you burn based on the distance you walk or run in kilometers.
How to Use the Calculator
To use this calorie calculator, fill in your personal information including your weight in kilograms, height in centimeters, age in years, gender, and your activity level. Then, click the “Calculate” button to see your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) and your estimated daily calorie needs.
How the Calculator Works
The calculator uses the Mifflin-St Jeor Equation to estimate your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), which is the number of calories your body needs to maintain basic bodily functions while at rest. The formula for BMR is different for men and women:
- For men: BMR = 10 * weight (kg) + 6.25 * height (cm) – 5 * age (years) + 5
- For women: BMR = 10 * weight (kg) + 6.25 * height (cm) – 5 * age (years) – 161
Once BMR is calculated, it is multiplied by an activity factor to estimate your daily calorie needs. The activity factors are based on your level of physical activity:
- Sedentary (Little or no exercise): 1.2
- Lightly Active (Light exercise/sports 1-3 days/week): 1.375
- Moderately Active (Moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/week): 1.55
- Very Active (Hard exercise/sports 6-7 days a week): 1.725
- Super Active (Very hard exercise/physical job): 1.9
Calculator Limitations
Note that this calculator provides an estimate of your daily calorie needs based on the input parameters. It does not account for unique factors such as muscle mass, body composition, or medical conditions. Consult with a healthcare provider for more personalized and accurate recommendations.
