This calorie calculator will help you estimate your daily calorie needs to manage your weight effectively.
How to Use the Calorie Calculator
This calorie calculator helps you to estimate the number of calories you need to maintain your current weight, based on your age, weight, height, gender, and activity level. Simply fill in all the fields and click the Calculate button.
How It Calculates
The calculator uses the Mifflin-St Jeor Equation to estimate your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), which is the number of calories you burn at rest. It then multiplies your BMR by your activity factor which you select from the activity level dropdown. The formula for BMR is:
For men:
BMR = 10 * weight(kg) + 6.25 * height(cm) – 5 * age(y) + 5
For women:
BMR = 10 * weight(kg) + 6.25 * height(cm) – 5 * age(y) – 161
The activity factors are:
- Sedentary (little or no exercise) = 1.2
- Lightly active (light exercise/sports 1-3 days/week) = 1.375
- Moderately active (moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/week) = 1.55
- Very active (hard exercise/sports 6-7 days a week) = 1.725
- Super active (very hard exercise/sports and a physical job) = 1.9
Limitations
While this calculator provides a good estimation of your daily caloric needs, it’s important to understand that it is still just an estimation. Individual caloric needs can vary based on various factors not accounted for in this calculation, such as muscle mass, overall health conditions, metabolic health, and more. Always consult with a healthcare provider for personalized advice.
