Calorie Calculator Guide

This calculator helps you estimate your daily calorie needs based on several factors:

  • Gender: Select either male or female.
  • Age: Enter your age in years.
  • Height: Enter your height in centimeters.
  • Weight: Enter your weight in kilograms.
  • Activity Level: Select the option that best describes your typical daily activity level.

How it Works

The calculator uses the Harris-Benedict equation to estimate your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), which is the number of calories your body needs to function at rest. It then multiplies your BMR by an activity factor to estimate the total number of calories you need each day to maintain your current weight. This total is known as your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE).

The activity factors are as follows:

  • Sedentary: BMR x 1.2
  • Lightly active: BMR x 1.375
  • Moderately active: BMR x 1.55
  • Very active: BMR x 1.725
  • Extra active: BMR x 1.9

Limitations

This calculator provides an estimate based on general equations and factors, but individual calorie needs may vary. Consult with a healthcare provider for the most accurate dietary recommendations.
