This tool helps you calculate your daily calorie needs based on USDA guidelines.
How to Use the Calorie Calculator
Enter your age, gender, weight, height, and choose your activity level in the form above. Once all information is entered, click on the “Calculate” button to see your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) and your estimated daily calorie intake based on your activity level.
How It Calculates the Results
The BMR is calculated using the Mifflin-St Jeor Equation:
- For men: BMR = 10 * weight(kg) + 6.25 * height(cm) – 5 * age + 5
- For women: BMR = 10 * weight(kg) + 6.25 * height(cm) – 5 * age – 161
This value is then multiplied by an activity factor to estimate your daily calorie needs:
- Sedentary (little or no exercise): BMR * 1.2
- Lightly active (light exercise/sports 1-3 days/week): BMR * 1.375
- Moderately active (moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/week): BMR * 1.55
- Very active (hard exercise/sports 6-7 days a week): BMR * 1.725
- Super active (very hard exercise/sports & a physical job): BMR * 1.9
Calculator Limitations
This calculator provides an estimate of your daily calorie needs based on average values and should not be considered 100% accurate. Your actual calorie needs may vary based on other factors such as muscle mass, health conditions, and metabolic variations.
