Calorie Counter: Jogging

Use this calculator to estimate the number of calories burned while jogging. Input your weight, the duration of your jog, the intensity of your workout, your age, gender, and optionally your average heart rate during the jog.

How to Use:

  • Enter your weight in kilograms.
  • Specify the duration of your jog in minutes.
  • Select the intensity level of your jog: light, moderate, or vigorous.
  • Enter your age and select your gender.
  • Optionally, enter your average heart rate in beats per minute during the jog to get a more personalized estimate.
  • Click “Calculate” to see the estimated calories burned.

How it Calculates:

The calculator uses the Metabolic Equivalent of Task (MET) values to estimate calorie burn. The following MET values are used for different intensities:

  • Light: 3.5
  • Moderate: 7.0
  • Vigorous: 10.0

Calories burned are calculated using the formula: 0.0175 * MET * weight (kg) * duration (minutes). Including heart rate in the calculation modifies the calories burned based on the heart rate relative to a standard of 150 bpm. The results are adjusted for gender, with a 10% reduction for females.

Limitations:

This calculator provides an estimate of calories burned and should not be considered 100% accurate. Individual variations in metabolism and other factors can affect actual calorie expenditure. For a more precise measurement, consult a fitness professional or use specialized fitness tracking equipment.
