This tool calculates how many calories you need per day based on your age, weight, height, and activity level.
How to Use the Calorie Counter
To use this calorie counter, fill in your details including gender, age, weight, height, and activity level. Once all fields are filled, click on the “Calculate” button. The calculator will display your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) and Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE).
How It Calculates the Results
The calculator first validates your input to ensure that all values are numbers and greater than zero. Your BMR is calculated using the following formulas:
- For males: BMR = 88.362 + (13.397 * weight in kg) + (4.799 * height in cm) – (5.677 * age in years)
- For females: BMR = 447.593 + (9.247 * weight in kg) + (3.098 * height in cm) – (4.330 * age in years)
Then, your TDEE is calculated based on your activity level using the multiplication factors for different activity levels:
- Sedentary (little or no exercise): BMR * 1.2
- Lightly active (light exercise/sports 1-3 days/week): BMR * 1.375
- Moderately active (moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/week): BMR * 1.55
- Very active (hard exercise/sports 6-7 days a week): BMR * 1.725
- Extra active (very hard exercise/sports and physical job or training): BMR * 1.9
Limitations
Please note that this calculator is designed to give you an estimation. It does not take into account factors such as muscle mass, metabolic health, hormonal imbalances, and other medical conditions that may affect your caloric needs. Therefore, use it as a general guide and consult a healthcare professional for a more accurate and personalized assessment.
