How it calculates the results:
The calculator uses the Mifflin-St Jeor Equation to estimate your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR). BMR represents the number of calories your body needs at rest to maintain vital body functions such as breathing and keeping warm. Then, it multiplies your BMR by an activity factor to estimate your daily caloric needs based on your level of physical activity.
Example of how the BMR is calculated for males: BMR = 88.362 + (13.397 x weight in kg) + (4.799 x height in cm) – (5.677 x age in years). For females: BMR = 447.593 + (9.247 x weight in kg) + (3.098 x height in cm) – (4.330 x age in years). The daily caloric needs are obtained by multiplying the BMR with an activity factor ranging from 1.2 to 1.9 depending on activity level.Limitations:
1. This calculator provides an estimation which might not be accurate for everyone.
2. It does not account for muscle mass, which can influence calorie needs.
