- Height: Enter your height in centimeters.
- Weight: Enter your weight in kilograms.
- Activity Level: Select your daily activity level from the dropdown menu.
After filling out the form, click on the “Calculate” button to see your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) and Maintenance Calories.
How It Calculates the Results
The calculator uses the Mifflin-St Jeor equation to estimate your BMR, which is the number of calories your body needs to maintain basic physiological functions:
- For males: BMR = 88.362 + (13.397 * weight) + (4.799 * height) – (5.677 * age)
- For females: BMR = 447.593 + (9.247 * weight) + (3.098 * height) – (4.330 * age)
The Maintenance Calories are then calculated by multiplying your BMR by an activity factor that corresponds to your selected activity level:
- Sedentary: BMR * 1.2
- Lightly active: BMR * 1.375
- Moderately active: BMR * 1.55
- Very active: BMR * 1.725
- Super active: BMR * 1.9
Limitations
This calculator provides an estimate based on the Mifflin-St Jeor equation and general activity factors. It does not account for other variables such as muscle mass, metabolic health, or medical conditions. Always consult with healthcare providers for personalized nutritional advice.
