How to Use the Calorie Calculator

This calculator helps you determine your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), which is the number of calories your body needs to perform basic functions such as breathing and digestion, and your Maintenance Calories, which is the number of calories you need to maintain your current weight given your activity level.

Calculation Method

  • BMR Calculation: Uses the Mifflin-St Jeor Equation.
    Male: ( BMR = 10 * text{weight} + 6.25 * text{height} – 5 * text{age} + 5 )
    Female: ( BMR = 10 * text{weight} + 6.25 * text{height} – 5 * text{age} – 161 )
  • Activity Levels Multiplier:
    • Sedentary: BMR * 1.2
    • Lightly active: BMR * 1.375
    • Moderately active: BMR * 1.55
    • Very active: BMR * 1.725
    • Super active: BMR * 1.9
