Use this tool to calculate the calories you burn while standing based on your weight and duration.
How the Calories Standing Calculator Works
This calculator estimates the number of calories you burn while standing based on several parameters: your age, weight, height, gender, and the time you spend standing.
How To Use:
- Select your gender.
- Enter your age in years.
- Enter your weight in kilograms.
- Enter your height in centimeters.
- Enter the time you will be standing in minutes.
- Click on the “Calculate” button to see the results.
How It Calculates:
The calculator uses the Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) formula to estimate the number of calories burned per minute and adjusts this for the activity of standing. It calculates BMR using different formulas for males and females:
- For males: BMR = 88.362 + (13.397 x weight in kg) + (4.799 x height in cm) – (5.677 x age in years)
- For females: BMR = 447.593 + (9.247 x weight in kg) + (3.098 x height in cm) – (4.330 x age in years)
The sedentariness level of standing is roughly calculated at a rate of 2.5 when compared to just lying down. Using this and BMR, calories burned per minute are estimated and multiplied by the time standing to find the total calories burned.
Limitations:
Remember that these are only estimates. Individual metabolic rates can vary based on a host of other factors not accounted for in this calculator. For more precise measurements, consider consulting a healthcare or fitness professional.
