How It Calculates
The calculator makes use of the following formula to compute the volume in cubic yards:
Volume (cubic yards) = (Length (feet) * Width (feet) * Depth (inches) / 12) / 27
The factor of 27 is used to convert cubic feet to cubic yards, as there are 27 cubic feet in a cubic yard.
Limitations
This calculator assumes the area is a perfect rectangle and does not account for uneven depth or other irregularities in the area shape. It’s always good to add a margin of safety to ensure you have enough concrete.
