Concrete Slab Calculator – Estimate Material and Cost

Use this concrete slab calculator to quickly estimate the amount of concrete you’ll need for your project.

How to Use the Concrete Slab Calculator

To use the concrete slab calculator, simply enter the dimensions of the concrete slab you plan to pour:

  • Length in feet
  • Width in feet
  • Thickness in inches
  • Click on the “Calculate” button

The calculator will then display the total volume in cubic yards required for your concrete slab.

How it Calculates the Results

The calculator uses the formula V = L * W * (T/12) to determine the volume of the concrete slab in cubic feet, where:

  • V is the volume
  • L is the length in feet
  • W is the width in feet
  • T is the thickness in inches (converted to feet by dividing by 12)

After calculating the volume in cubic feet, it then converts this number to cubic yards, as concrete is typically sold in cubic yards. It does so by dividing the cubic feet by 27 (since one cubic yard is equivalent to 27 cubic feet).

Limitations of the Calculator

This concrete slab calculator makes certain assumptions:

  • It assumes the slab is uniformly thick from edge to edge.
  • It does not take into account any waste or overage that may be required.
  • It does not provide any reinforcement recommendations or take into consideration load-bearing capacity.
  • The calculations are estimates and should be verified by a professional before proceeding.

For precise requirements on concrete volume for varying projects or for slabs with more complex shapes, professional assessment is recommended.
