This exterior paint calculator helps you estimate the amount of paint you will need to cover the exterior walls of your project.
How to Use the Calculator:
- Enter the length and height of one wall.
- Enter the number of walls you want to paint.
- Enter the number of doors and windows you have on those walls (as they will be subtracted from the total area).
- Enter the number of coats of paint you plan to apply.
- Enter the paint coverage in square feet per gallon (usually available on the paint can).
- Click “Calculate” to see the amount of paint needed in gallons.
How it Calculates the Results:
- Total Area = Length x Height x Number of Walls
- Subtract the area of doors and windows from the Total Area
- Multiply by the number of coats you plan to apply
- Divide by the paint coverage to get the amount of paint needed in gallons
Limitations:
This calculator assumes uniform wall sizes and does not take into account any complex architectural features or varying wall sizes. It calculates a rough estimate; always purchase a little more paint than calculated to ensure complete coverage.
