Use this tool to calculate the volume of water your pool holds in gallons.
Pool Gallons Calculator
Use this calculator to determine the number of gallons of water your pool holds. Select the shape of your pool, enter the length, width, and average depth in feet, then click “Calculate”.
How It Works
This calculator uses the given dimensions of your pool to compute its volume in cubic feet, and then converts that volume to gallons:
- For rectangular pools, the volume is calculated as Length x Width x Depth.
- For oval pools, an approximation factor of 0.8 is applied to account for the curved shape.
- 1 cubic foot is equivalent to 7.48 gallons of water.
How To Use
- Select your pool shape.
- Enter the length, width, and average depth of your pool in feet.
- Click “Calculate”.
- The result shows the number of gallons of water your pool holds.
Limitations
This calculator provides an estimate based on the average depth and may not fully account for additional features such as varying depths, steps, or ledges. For more precise measurements, consider consulting a pool professional.
Use Cases for This Calculator
Calculating Gallons Needed to Fill a Rectangular Pool
Enter the length, width, and average depth of your rectangular pool to quickly determine the gallons of water needed to fill it. A convenient way to plan for the right quantity of water without any guesswork.
Estimating Gallons for an Oval-shaped Pool
You can effortlessly calculate the gallons required to fill your oval-shaped pool by providing the length, width, and average depth. It’s a hassle-free way to ensure you have the correct amount of water for your pool.
Determining Gallons for a Circular Pool
Simply input the diameter and average depth of your circular pool to get an accurate estimate of gallons needed. It’s a quick way to avoid any shortage or excess of water when filling up your circular pool.
Adjusting Gallons for Kidney-shaped Pools
For a kidney-shaped pool, just enter the length, width, and average depth to calculate the gallons required. An efficient way to tailor the water quantity specifically for your unique pool shape.
Planning Gallons Needed for Irregular-shaped Pools
If you have an irregularly shaped pool, input the measurements for length, width, and average depth to get the gallons needed. This feature ensures you have a precise water volume estimate regardless of your pool shape.
Accounting for Partial Filling of the Pool
In case you only need to partially fill your pool, you can enter the desired water depth to calculate the gallons required. Perfect for situations where a full pool isn’t necessary.
Calculating Gallons for Pool Top-offs
If you just need to top off your pool with additional water, input the current water level plus the desired height increase to find the gallons needed. A handy tool for maintaining your pool at the right water level.
Considering Water Evaporation and Loss
To factor in water evaporation or losses, input the average rate of evaporation and duration in days to adjust the gallons calculation accordingly. Helpful for ensuring you compensate for potential water loss over time.
Planning Water Delivery or Purchase
Use the calculator to plan for water delivery or purchase by determining the exact gallons needed to fill your pool. This way, you can have a clear idea of the volume required for any water supply arrangements.
Adjusting for Changes in Pool Dimensions
If you’re making alterations to your pool dimensions, simply update the length, width, or depth to calculate the new gallons needed. A flexible tool that adapts to changes in your pool setup.
