This tool calculates the number of shingle bundles you need for your roofing project.
How the Calculator Works
To use the “How Many Bundles of Shingles Do I Need?” calculator, input the following parameters:
- Roof Length: The length of the roof in feet.
- Roof Width: The width of the roof in feet.
- Roof Pitch: The pitch of the roof which affects the surface area.
- Waste Factor: A percentage to account for waste and trimming.
How to Use
1. Enter the length of your roof.
2. Enter the width of your roof.
3. Select the pitch of your roof from the dropdown.
4. Enter the waste factor percentage, if you do not know, the default value is 10%.
5. Click “Calculate” to see the number of bundles required.
How it Calculates
The total area of the roof is calculated by the formula:
Roof Area = Roof Length * Roof Width * Roof Pitch Factor
The total area is then increased by the waste factor percentage.
Finally, it divides the adjusted area by the area covered by one bundle of shingles (approximately 33.3 sq. ft.) to get the required number of bundles.
Limitations
This calculator provides an estimation and should not be used as the only criteria for your purchase. Always consult with a professional for accurate measurements and assessments.
