How to Use the Calorie Calculator

To use the calorie calculator, fill in all the fields with your personal data. How It Calculates the Results

The calculator uses the Mifflin-St Jeor equation to estimate your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), which is the number of calories your body needs at rest. The equation is different for males and females. Once the BMR is calculated, it is then multiplied by an activity factor based on your indicated activity level to estimate your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE).

The TDEE represents the number of calories you need per day to maintain your current weight. If you select a weight loss goal, 500 calories are subtracted from the TDEE to create a caloric deficit. If you select a weight gain goal, 500 calories are added to the TDEE to create a caloric surplus.
