How to Use the MQ Estimator
To use the MQ Estimator, fill in the fields for the width, length, and height of the room in meters. Select the quality of insulation, enter the number of occupants, and the number of heat-generating appliances. Click on the “Calculate” button to get the estimated result in BTUs required for the space.
How It Calculates
The MQ Estimator calculates the required BTU based on the volume of the room and other factors:
- Room Volume: Width x Length x Height
- Insulation Quality: Multiplier factor based on the insulation quality
- Occupants: Each occupant adds 100 BTU
- Appliances: Each appliance adds 500 BTU
The total BTU is then the sum of all these factors.
Limitations
Please note that this calculator provides an estimate only. Several factors such as the exact type and usage of the room, local climate conditions, and specific heat-generating appliances can affect the actual BTU requirements.
