Use this river rock calculator tool to easily estimate the amount of river rock you need for your project.
How to Use the River Rock Calculator
To use this calculator, enter the length, width, and depth of the area you wish to cover with river rocks. The depth should be input in inches. Click the ‘Calculate’ button, and the result will be displayed in tons.
How It Calculates the Results
This calculator computes the volume of river rocks needed by using the formula: Length x Width x Depth. The depth is first converted from inches to feet. The total volume in cubic feet is then converted to tons by multiplying by a density factor (1.35) and dividing by the number of pounds in a ton (2000).
Limitations
The calculator assumes a uniform depth and density throughout the area. It provides an estimate and should not be used for precise calculations without verifying the density and other factors on site.
