Rock Coverage Calculator | Easily Estimate Your Project

This tool helps you calculate how much rock you’ll need to cover a specific area in your landscaping project.

Rock Coverage Calculator

This calculator helps determine the amount of rock you need to cover a given area. The calculation is based on the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover, along with the density of the rock you are using.

How to Use the Calculator:

  1. Enter the length of the area in feet.
  2. Enter the width of the area in feet.
  3. Enter the depth of the covering in inches.
  4. Enter the density of the rock in pounds per cubic foot (lbs/ft³).
  5. Click the Calculate button to see the result.

How It Calculates the Result:

The calculator converts the depth from inches to feet, then calculates the volume of the area to be covered (in cubic feet) using the formula:

Volume (ft³) = Length (ft) x Width (ft) x Depth (ft)

It then calculates the total weight of the rock needed using:

Weight (lbs) = Volume (ft³) x Density (lbs/ft³)

Limitations:

This calculator assumes a uniform coverage and does not account for any variations in depth or density. Be sure to purchase a little more material than calculated to allow for rounding and variances in coverage.
