Calculation Method

The calculator uses the MET (Metabolic Equivalent of Task) value to estimate calories burned. MET values vary based on the speed of running:

  • For running speed >= 8 km/h, MET = 11.5
  • For running speed < 8 km/h, MET = 7.0
The MET value is then used in the formula:
Calories burned = (MET * 3.5 * weight in kg / 200) * distance in km

If the user is female, the result is adjusted by a factor of 0.85 to account for differences in metabolism.
