Gravel Yard Calculator | Quick Volume & Cost Estimator

This tool calculates the amount of gravel you need for your yard project based on your specified dimensions.

How to Use the Gravel Yard Calculator

Follow the instructions to calculate the amount of gravel needed:

  • Enter the length of the area in meters.
  • Enter the width of the area in meters.
  • Enter the depth of the area in centimeters.
  • Select the type of gravel (density).
  • Select the unit of measurement (metric or imperial).
  • Click on the “Calculate” button.
  • The result will be displayed showing the total amount of gravel needed.

How It Calculates the Results

The calculator uses the following formula:

Volume (m³) = Length (m) × Width (m) × Depth (cm) / 100

Weight = Volume × Density

For metric tons, the weight is directly derived from the volume in cubic meters and density in kg/m³. For imperial units, the weight is converted into U.S. tons based on the standard conversion factor.

Limitations

The calculator provides an estimate based on average densities of gravel types. Variations in gravel size, shape, and specific configurations might slightly impact the actual volume and weight required. Always consider ordering extra materials to account for these variations.
